There are several different types of acoustic guitar pickups. Some of them belong to the passive type while others are in the active type. Passive pickups don’t change the sound characteristics of the guitar. It just acts like a microphone and sends the signal to an amplifier. Active pickups provide the option to boost the volume or change the gain of some frequency components. The disadvantage of an active pickup is that, it requires a battery to power the electronic devices used in the preamp and equalizer. The circuit in this design shows an example of an active pickup preamplifier with 2-band equalizer. The whole circuit is made up of two operational amplifiers from a dual-circuit IC TLV2316, passive components, and audio connectors.  Read more
